About Grief Rituals

ALTAR TO COMMEMORATE OUR LOVED ONES

Tara leading a grief ritual

Grief rituals are a way to give a voice to the sorrows that might be held within whether it may be losing a beloved friend, partner, relationship, family member, career or grieving the reality of our current environmental and social world.

If we allow our tears to flow freely than our laughter is that much more liberated to be shared... Without expressing the emotions locked within we can easily fall into numbness which is equal to not living a full and meaningful life.. And it is in allowing ourselves to feel the depths of our true experience we give ourselves permission to come alive once more...

Tara has gone through an extensive journey with grief in the last two years with being one of the main caretakers for her best friend of 19 years while she had Leukemia and sadly passed in August of 2015. It is through this experience she realized how vitally important it is to allow one's grief to be expressed. She has created a grief ritual combined with her equine assisted learning (EFL) and coaching tools with the horses to hold safe space for others grief to emerge, release and heal.

In this grief ritual journey you will experience expressive art therapy, time with the horses for self contemplation, do a release exercise with the horses, learn tools to understand and be with your grief and an active group grief ritual to memorialize and release your grief.

In general, grief rituals are a great way to give a voice to the sorrows that might be held within you and a place for you to safely navigate the grief healing process.

You are not alone.

Grief is a hard subject of our society to discuss and often those experiencing loss feel alone. Once we allow our tears to fall, we release that which is holding us back from truly living life fully.  By allowing ourselves to feel the depths of our true experience we give ourselves permission to come alive once more.

Testimonials about the Grief Rituals

"Tara, thank you for such a wonderful ritual.  I found it so very healing.  You are really such a skilled leader.  I think you have really found your calling.  And your horses provide a wonderful presence and reflection.  I really connected with Comanche this time.  Loved the stone ceremony and the reverberations of all our grievings.  It was healing and cathartic all at the same time. It is obvious we are not alone in this human condition." - Melisa McCampbell

"I don't know what Tara and the horses did to me a week ago at the grief ritual but I'm suddenly fearless and really standing up for myself and others who have less of a voice. This naturally shy and introverted gal is now kind of a bad ass! Giddy up!" -Karen Pisani

"The space you held has been the deep release I have needed to move back into the woman I was before my mama's diagnosis!!! I had not known how to truly move back into that being of wellness with my full mind and body!!! I know that there will always be more to work through and feel a peaceful surrender into the nights!!!! You had mentioned how the healing continues and it could not be more true, more understanding of how I lost myself thru the heartaches keeps being revealed to me. And the understanding is helping me not to feel so frightened. Keep on spinning your beautiful magic with us all Tara." -Amanda Noakes
